Sending a belated Blog. I keep having technological difficulties with my computer and lots of power outages lately due to storms. So let's catch up!

Happy Father's Day! Hope all you Dads had a great weekend. Tom spent his special day on a Southwest plane headed to San Francisco for work. At least they provided free drinks for all the Dads! Meanwhile, the rest of us spent Father's Day at the Baltimore zoo with Mom B. It was such a beautiful day we decided we needed an outing. We had planned on going to the zoo on Mother's Day and we just ran out of time. The zoo is only open until 4pm. And we had to pack up my mom's scooter for the trip. The kids were a great help and loaded the scooter in the back of my van. Then they ran up to Subway and bought some sandwiches and salads for a picnic lunch. Then we picked up my mom! We had a great time escorting her through the zoo on her power scooter and checking out all the animals. I bought a membership to the Baltimore zoo to make things easier. We have not been back to this zoo since the kids were little. For the past several years we have been driving to the National zoo in DC. But that is very hilly and I thought mom would have a harder time driving the scooter around. Plus it is much farther away. We enjoyed our picnic lunch on a deck overlooking the forest and the elephants. We had a laugh when an older man walked up to Mom B and handed her a hot dog. His wife and family was sitting at the table next to us. Both ladies had on hats and sunglasses. He mistook Mom B for his wife! He stopped for a moment and looked at us, then looked at his family at the table next to us and realized he had the wrong wife! Little old ladies in hats and sunglasses all look alike! We all had a good laugh. And a wonderful day!

I think Scott enjoyed himself almost as much as Grandma. Mainly because he is done with school! His last day was Friday, June 17th.  He spent his last week finishing up his finals and turning in the last of his projects and papers.   He is very happy to be done. Especially with Spanish. And he already has his schedule set for next year. I informed him that school starts again Aug 29th! But in the meantime, he has a lot more activities to participate in during his summer time off! He missed his Boy Scout Court of Honor meeting since he was busy studying for finals, but Allison managed to get him to his dentist appointment.

We were very excited to receive word back from the Baltimore Boy Scout council that Scott's Eagle project was approved! So now he can officially get started on building planters.

Tom has taken the summer off from class. He returned from Boulder CO on a work trip on Weds, and then spent the rest of the week working on his book chapter for his last professor. Now he can also help Scott complete his Eagle project.

I was also glad last week was over. I finally scheduled my first colonoscopy. My doctor recommended it. Our family has a history of colon polyps, and I recently had a check up and my colon test came back positive, so they just wanted to check things out. I took a full day off work on Thursday to stay home and eat popsicles, jello and drink ginger ale and Gator Aid. And also to take my laxatives. What a way to kick off a summer diet! My test was scheduled for Friday afternoon. So nothing to eat or drink all Friday morning. Tom took off work to take me in for the test. They sedate you, so you have to bring someone with you(over 21) to drive you and be responsible(if anything happens). Hopefully nothing bad will happen. Turns out my test went quite well. The whole thing lasted about 20 mins! And then I spent most of the weekend sleeping. The anesthesia wiped me out. But my test came out negative for any polyps or cancer. So I was happy! And I don't have to go back for another 5 yrs.

So I did not get a whole lot done over Father's Day weekend. I did enjoy going to see 'Finding Dory' with the kids on Saturday afternoon. We really enjoyed it. And I loved eating popcorn again! I also spent time with Scott on Sunday afternoon doing the yardwork. June has been very rainy and everything is growing very quickly!  We can hardly keep up with trimming and lawn mowing. And we haven't even put down the last of our mulch pile.

I also spent an evening at our last seasonal GS choir performance and end of the year meeting right after work on Monday night. Looks like I will stay with the program next year too.

I have been very busy at work training my new OT student. It is so nice to have an extra set of hands to get the work done!  I think that is how the women are feeling that hired Allison for her internship. Allison has been such an asset for them-especially with improving their technological office needs. Not only that, she is quickly becoming the only office staff member still working! Many of the women have come down with an illness, including the boss! She recently discovered that she has shingles, and the worst is that she has a rash on her eye. I hear that is the most painful, with limited treatment and can lead to blindness. Not good. Allison is already covering for the boss's sister who had a hip replacement, but other staff members have had broken bones, been in car accidents and one actually got an infection from her cat when it bit her! I am guessing they are happy to have Allison. She is practically the only one left running the office! What an experience for her.

We have also been busy puppy sitting for our friends, Beth and Barry, that headed off to Europe. Their son graduated from high school, so they decided to take a big family vacation to celebrate in Paris and London. We enjoy their dog, Ripley, which is a younger cavachon like Cookie. But Ripley keeps us very busy with all her energy! And Cookie too! However, we will all miss her when she goes home. We just figured out how to walk both of them and feed them at the same time.
