Feb 25-Mar 3rd

Yeah! Scott is home for Spring Break! Even though it is not yet spring, our weather is a tad better than Michigan. But not by much. He flew in right before a cold rain/sleet fell on Friday night. Tom picked him up at the airport and we all went out to dinner together. However we had to wait a bit since Friday nights are crowded at the restaurants here in Maryland.  But it gave us more time to catch up while waiting for a table. Then they brought me the wrong dinner, so even more time to catch up waiting for the right meal!

Although I don't usually need too much time to catch up since we chat on Skype at least once a week and keep track with texting. I even checked in with Scott on his schedule Friday morning before he headed to the airport in Grand Rapids. My swim aerobics class was cancelled Friday morning since there was a 2 hour school delay because of the weather.  The Y follows the school schedule for closures or delays. We had a bit of snow and ice on Thursday evening, the last day of February and it caused a delay Friday morning. Fortunately no delay at the airport. Or for Allison and Tom to get to work.

And I was able to get out Thursday and Friday afternoon and do some shopping for another chance at a dinner party Saturday night with our friends that watched Cookie over Christmas break. We finally picked a day when everyone was available to have them over for dinner, although both of their boys were still off to school. Spring Break will be later for schools here in the mid Atlantic.

Thursday afternoon I got off work early for my dentist appointment. It was cancelled the week before because of a snow storm!  I had to have an old cavity redone. It was not a big deal, but I hate when they use too much novacaine since my cheek was numb for about 5 hours afterwards!

So on Friday and Saturday we were busy cleaning and preparing food for dinner. Scott, Allison and I did take a break Saturday afternoon to catch the movie "How to Train Your Dragon III". Allison and I have been very excited for its release. We could have seen it early on a preview, but decided to wait for Scott to join us. When we got home, Tom had set everything up for our evening. Unfortunately I received an email from our friends saying they were catching colds and not feeling well and had to cancel. We tried last minute to invite some other neighbors over but everyone was either out of town or busy. Oh well. We had a wonderful dinner-fajitas!  Guess we will have to reschedule again.   And since we were not entertaining friends, Allison and I ran up to the local mall so I could return some work scrub pants that I had ordered online. While there, Allison and I took advantage of some good sales to pick up some work shirts for her. We also stopped into Payless Shoe store for their going out of business sale. So many companies closing! We probably have contributed to that situation since we buy quite a few things online too!

On Sunday I was hoping to bring my mom over for dinner, but the weather was very cold and it started to snow. I did not want to drag her out in the lousy weather, but I did stop in to drop off some clean clothes and supplies and for a quick visit. Mostly I spent my free time over the weekend putting together her tax forms. A few years ago, Tom found me a very good and patient accountant who was able to piece together the very complicated Bozyk taxes. I had to gather some extra paperwork this year, including her receipts for our trip to Florida to check on the Bozyk house which we put up for sale in October. Scott and Tom spent Sunday afternoon watching the "Alita Battle Angel" movie since Tom enjoyed it so much and thought Scott would too.

And speaking of sales, the paperwork for the Florida house sale was officially signed on Tuesday, Feb 26. I had to make a few phone calls to cancel some services to the house including the power and landscaping. Now I have to cancel the homeowners insurance. My work is never done!  On Sunday I dropped all the tax forms off at the Fed Ex store to send to the accountant before visiting mom and then heading home for dinner.

Tom was getting ready to travel to Wisconsin for work for the week. Not exactly the best time of the year to be traveling up north, but he did not have much choice. This was a follow up trip from his work in California. He also started a new online class for his PhD. He was going to take this class before Christmas, but decided he would be too busy traveling. Instead he waited for the next rotation and it was a better choice. He has more time to concentrate on his schoolwork since he is between jobs. He was not very happy with his yearly review from his current manager. Although they could not say enough wonderful things about Tom's work performance last year, they could not give him a yearly bonus since he is not considered  manager level in this work group. So Tom is looking for a new position at work and a new manager that could make that happen.

During the week, Allison and I also had another GS planning meeting for our upcoming scout jamboree in May. I also gathered another couple of bags of clothes for donation. Slowly working on the closets!

Sending out a Happy Birthday to Susan and John Potts who both celebrated their birthdays one week apart. Tom sent them some tickets to see the Baseball Spring Training games in Sarasota. Our Baltimore Orioles hang out there before the start of baseball season.
