More crazy weather. Guess Spring is on hold for now. We finished off February with a bit more snow and now freezing rain. (Oh surprise, school is opening 2 hrs late on Monday due to our freezing rain). Scott has had a few late days and even an extra day off because of the weather this week. I think it is playing havoc with the teachers' schedules as they load the kids up with extra homework. It is taking its toll on SCott in a few classes as well. Plus the teachers decided to try new testing methods in a few of his classes which have thrown him for a loop. He needs to push a bit more to inch his way up in a spanish and history. Most everything is going well so far. He just has 4 more weeks until Spring Break and the end of the semester!
Scott also decided to give the track team one more try. They held their first Spring try outs on Saturday morning. I was not sure how they were going to try out in the snow! The track was not cleared, so they ran around the parking lot and then headed into the gym. The track coach recommended Scott try for some of the throwing events(maybe that will give him a spot on the team). Again, there are so many kids trying out for track and just not enough spots for everyone, especially the runners. Guess we'll see if it works out. He is still going to the Y on Friday nights to exercise with his friend. I am just happy that he is staying physically active!
And speaking of staying active, Congrats to Scott who was officially hired as a Skate Guard for the Supreme Sports Club complex in Columbia, MD. Allison had the same job, but there is a whole new management in place. So Scott may be doing a bit more than Allison did when she worked there, like working in the cafe. Anyhow, we stopped by the sports club on Friday evening to fill out a huge stack of papers. Now we just have to wait for a schedule and for SCott to start orientation.
I also had to take him in for his yearly medical check up on Friday evening. He needed his boy scout medical forms filled out for summer camps. Yes, he is already signed up for all the summer camps. Then on Saturday morning I had to take him to the bank to open a checking account to go along with his savings account, He needed a check book and ATM card for his new job! So his busy schedule just got busier!
He has had a bit of a slow down with his Robotics team. Their robot is done and had to be locked up/bagged until competition time at the end of March and beginning of April.
He is still going strong with boy scouts. Tom stopped in to do a presentation at his scout meeting on Weds night on the American Heritage badge. Scott is still trying to finalize his Personal Fitness badge with his counselor. And he has a lot of scout activities coming up in the next few months.
Tom also stopped into the kids old school Weds afternoon to assist with the upcoming Science Fair. He presented the guidelines to the kids. Tom also acts as a counselor for the kids when they choose their projects, and then helps with the judging. Not to mention ordering the trophies.
Allison keeps busy with her Spring semester. She will be home soon on Spring break. She was in our neck of the woods this weekend as she traveled to Uof Maryland to participate in an Ultimate Frisbee tournament. They did well and won all of their games. Allison even scored! She ended up staying at a nearby friend's house rather than driving up to our place. And this morning she and the girls headed back to Salisbury since the weather turned. Even she had a snow day last week!
Before the weather got too much worse today, I ran out and got a hair cut. Then Tom and I headed over to my parent's apt. We had stopped in on Friday with a new bookshelf that needed to be assembled. We had picked it up at Target. Unfortunately, the piece was damaged, so we had to return it and pick up another cabinet. So today Tom was able to assemble the shelves and hang a few more pictures. I also dropped off a few more knick knacks for mom to fill up the shelves. And we set up a pair of electric toothbrushes that the dentist recommended. Overall, a very busy day. Tom would have stopped in with me on Saturday, but he was anxious to try to get to another Hershey hockey game before the April tournaments. So he and his friend John drove up to Hershey together to look for tickets on Saturday night. They had a great time at the game. I stayed home and played with my online photo album.
Which leads me to my calendar corrections. I missed sending out a big Happy Birthday to Caroline and Clayton Bozyk. Along with Birthday Wishes to sister in law, Susan. And I forgot to wish everyone Happy Paczki Day(Polish donut day on Fat Tuesday!). Hope everyone is surviving Lent. I'd like to give up work. It is definitely keeping me busy. And we just failed an OT student. He did not get it. It happens.
More later. Same Bat Time, Same Bat Channel.
