Happy Palm Sunday! We enjoyed the passion play at church again this year. Two of Allison's classmates were in it(one got her ear cut off). Scott also saw the 8th grade version at school on Friday at school.

He also spent Thursday evening singing with the choir at the annual 8th grade student vs teachers/priests basketball game.(He is in the middle of this photo behind Joe S in the brown shirt). They sing the National Anthem and then provide entertainment at half time. Scott wanted to leave after that, but surprisingly the game was so good, I didn't want to leave! And the students beat the teachers for a win by a few points(a first in a long time).

Allison meanwhile was at a Field Hockey camp which runs every Thursday night for 6 weeks. We thought it might be a good idea if she picked up some field skills besides her goalie position. She also spent an evening last week at a Girl SCout volunteer meeting preparing for her summer position at GS day camp. This will be the second summer she volunteers at the archery site. She really enjoys it.

Scott had a Boy Scout meeting on Tuesday and then spent Saturday morning cleaning up the church yard where his scout troop meets. They helped put down mulch around the flower beds too. The church was getting ready for the upcoming Nursery SChool fair. Scott was one of only a few that showed up since it was raining.

Allison was attending an all day orientation program for her Skate Guard position. This was a program that used to run a few hours and they stretched it out to a whole day! Doesn't matter, Allison was paid for her time. She then worked Palm Sunday.

I spent any and all of my free time packing for our trip. And of course the kids outgrew all of their summer clothes so I was busy trying to locate shorts and short sleeve shirts. I also had to drop off our house key to our neighbor so she could pet sit the cat and gerbil.

I also took some time out to visit the Goddard NASA space center for an open house with Scott. They only have the visitor center available once a month, and I took SCott to get some ideas for an upcoming poster presentation he had on the planets. We were looking for some photos or ideas for his poster from the gift store.

We would have left for Florida already, but we were using Tom's frequent airline miles for free tickets and that can be tricky trying to find available flights. We ended up scheduling our flight out on Monday, returning the following Tuesday. The kids had to miss one day of school on the return flight.

A Happy Birthday goes out to Sarah Bozyk who hit #19 on the 13th of April! Happy Birthday Sarah! Wow-all those April Birthdays!

Here are my catch up blogs. I was so busy working towards Spring Break I never got to send these. Enjoy some light reading! This was the week before we left for Florida. And here are a few photos of early spring in MD. I was sorry I didn't get my camera out earlier before all the rain knocked the blossoms off the trees.

So Tom was able to stay home for a change. We were still quite busy. Allison finished up her art class last Monday. Tom was hoping to go out to dinner since his official birthday landed on Monday, but she had a two hour class to finish. She really enjoyed it.

Tom did get SCott to his scout meeting. Scott keeps working on his requirements for Tenderfoot. I had a Girl Scout leader meeting last Weds. Girl Scouts have decided to try and go high tech and they were discussing the new online registration process. Hope we don't all crash the system when we early bird register!

I rushed in a hair appointment for Allison this weekend. She also needed to shop for some shorts for our upcoming trip to Florida(think warm!). In between she had to work Saturday and Sunday at the rollerblade rink. That means lots of running around for Tom and I. He tried to find her a new brake for her blades but the stores do not stock her style. It looks like it is going to be difficult to find the replacement part for her Schwinn blades, so Tom has started hunting for a new pair. Since her job is her feet, we decided she should have a good pair. She is usually up rollerblading for 3 hours when she is not passing out blades in the skate room.

We decided SCott could use a play date with his friend Sammy since he won't be seeing him over Spring break. WE also thought he needed a break from a week of standardized testing. WE invited Sammy over SAturday night for a sleepover, and Sammy's parents took Allison to their daughters musical, The Sound of Music. Allison didn't even have a chance to eat dinner when they picked her up. The play ended around 11pm and Allison had a hard time staying awake since she was pretty tired out, but she really enjoyed herself. And she enjoyed the music since we sing some of the songs from the musical with our girl scout choir. The rest of the weekend she squeezed in her schoolwork. She has been busy working on a thesis paper on satire and is coming to the end.

I did not have to go into work on Friday so I spent the rainy day running my errands and making phone calls. And I still have not caught up with all the items on my "To Do" list. I am running out of time before we leave for Florida. The biggest problem I have is scheduling too many activities with not enough hours in the day or days in the week.

Tom had more time to spend at home this weekend and he caught spring fever. He decided to cut the grass and put down weed and feed. I think he was the first kid on the block to get out the mower and actually cut grass as opposed to just sharpening blades or adding oil to the engine. (He did that last weekend). It has been a pretty rainy spring with a few scattered tstorms and occassional tornado watch/warning. Nothing too bad. At least I can enjoy the blossoms on my magnolia, cherry and pear trees since the blossoms haven't blown off. I was rather disappointed that we were so busy we missed the Annual Kite Festival and Cherry Blossom Festival in DC. WE usually enjoy taking the kids down to the mall in DC and flying our kites and enjoying the cherry trees, but everyone was pretty busy(or gone) this year. I would love to go down there next year as they celebrate their 100th anniversary of the Japanese giving the cherry trees as a gift to the US as a peace offering. Feel free to come visit at that time! Ask MOm and DAd Bozyk-we either have freezing cold weather or warm weather. You never know.

So things seem to be speeding up as we get ready for our Spring Break. Allison started an after school tutoring program for all the high school students as they prepare to take their High SChool Assessment exams in May. She is taking prep classes for Government, Biology and English. All students have to pass exams in order to graduate from high school. She is exempt from the math test. She stays after school for an hour and gets a free bus ride home. She is just not too excited about the extra classes. She is definitely looking forward to a break.

So I will keep you up to date on our preparations for traveling south!

Stay dry this spring!

And Big Happy April Birthdays go out to Tom Seitz, Sandra Bozyk and Dad Bozyk(what a busy time of the year!).
